What a Personalized Teen Development Path Looks Like Week to Week
Parents want to know what their teen will actually do on Altitude. Here's a concrete week-by-week look at what the experience looks like from Day 1 through Month 3.

Before a parent joins a waitlist, they usually want to picture something concrete. Not a philosophy. Not a framework. An actual week in their teen's life.
Here's what that looks like on Altitude.
Week 1: Getting Started
Your teen begins with Discovering Your Strengths, Altitude's entry course. It introduces the Whole Human Framework and takes your teen through the Whole Human Assessment: 124 items across 31 competencies in six domains of development.
They also complete the Precision Development quiz, a short set of questions about how they learn best. From both, Altitude matches them with their Altitude Coach and generates the Whole Human Report: a full competency profile showing where your teen is strongest and where they have the most room to grow.
By the end of Week 1, your teen has:
- A personal competency profile across all 31 competencies
- Their matched Altitude Coach
- A development path shaped around their specific strengths
This first week isn't housekeeping. It's the foundation everything else builds on.
Weeks 2–3: Into the First Pathway
With profile in hand, your teen begins their first Pathway, a Course paired with a Challenge that forms one full developmental cycle.
The Course runs 2–8 weeks and is delivered through Coach Audio in your teen's matched voice. Each session opens with the Coach, works through the content with interactive activities and reflection prompts, and closes with the Coach connecting what your teen just did to the competency they're building.
A session might look like: a 10-minute Coach Audio walkthrough of a concept → a scenario-based activity where your teen practices the skill → a reflection prompt asking what they noticed about themselves → the Coach responding to that reflection and setting up the next session.
There's no passive video-watching. Your teen is doing something in almost every session, making a choice, writing a response, working through a scenario. The Coach is present throughout, guiding rather than lecturing.
The Challenge typically launches in parallel, a 10–30 day daily practice that builds the habit underneath the competency. If the Course is about Resolves Conflicts, the Challenge might be a daily practice of noticing conflict moments and writing one sentence about what happened. Small, consistent, building over time.
Month 2: Building Momentum
By Month 2, your teen has finished or is deep into their first Pathway. What happens next depends on their profile.
If they moved through their first Course quickly and their Coach feedback shows growing competency, their path sequences to a deeper challenge, the next Pathway in their development sequence, or a Workshop that goes deeper on a specific skill from within their domain.
Workshops are single-session interactive experiences (15–45 minutes) that go deep on one skill, one scenario, or one mindset shift. They're not standalone content. They connect to what your teen is working on in their Pathway. A Workshop on reading a difficult conversation connects directly to building Communicates. A Workshop on staying steady under pressure connects to Manages Stress.
Flows and Tools are available throughout, short guided practices (30 seconds to 20 minutes) your teen can use to prepare before a hard session, reset during one, or reflect after. These aren't learning experiences in the traditional sense. They're state-support practices that make the learning experiences land better.
Month 3: Visible Growth
By Month 3, patterns start to show. Your teen has completed at least one full Pathway, worked through a Course, practiced through a Challenge, applied in real situations. The competencies they've been building have been showing up in their daily life, not just in responses to prompts.
Parents often notice things here: their teen navigating a conflict differently. Handling a hard thing with more steadiness than they used to. Knowing themselves better than they did three months ago.
Progress is tracked across competencies over time, your teen can see how far they've come across the domains they've been developing. Growth is measured as development, not grades. The path keeps going. There's no point at which a teen is finished developing as a human. The Pathways sequence based on what's been built and what's next, adjusting as your teen grows.
What a Week Actually Looks Like
In practical terms, your teen's Altitude week might include:
- 2–3 Course sessions (10–25 minutes each) with their matched Coach
- Daily Challenge practice (5–10 minutes): a habit-forming action tied to the competency they're building
- 1 Workshop per week or every other week (15–45 minutes) going deeper on a skill
- Flows or Tools as needed, quick practices before or after sessions
The total weekly time commitment is flexible and depends on where your teen is in their Pathway, but most learners are in the 30–60 minutes per week range during active courses, with more or less depending on whether they're mid-Course, finishing a Challenge, or between Pathways.
Frequently asked questions
What does my teen actually do on Altitude each week?
A typical week includes a few Course sessions delivered by their matched Coach (10–25 minutes each), daily Challenge practice (5–10 minutes), and optional Workshops and Tools. Total active time ranges from 30–60 minutes per week during an active Pathway, more or less depending on the stage.
How long does a Pathway take?
A Pathway is a Course (typically 2–8 weeks) paired with a Challenge (10–30 days). In practice, your teen will often work through the Course and Challenge in parallel, completing a full Pathway in roughly 4–8 weeks depending on their pace.
Is there a set schedule my teen has to follow?
No. Altitude is self-paced. Your teen works through their development path on their own schedule, within each Course and Challenge, they set the cadence. This makes it easy to fit into an existing homeschool week.
What is Coach Audio?
Coach Audio is Altitude's primary instructional mode, narration in your teen's matched Coach voice, woven through every Course and Workshop. Rather than passive video, your teen hears their Coach walk through the content, guide them through activities, and respond to their reflection.
How long before my teen sees results?
Development happens over time, not overnight. Most families notice real shifts by Month 2 or 3, in how their teen handles a difficult situation, how they talk about themselves, or how they approach a challenge. The Whole Human Assessment tracks competency development over time so those shifts become visible, not just felt.
