Funds are held in a Promise Scholarship account and can be directed to participating schools, online learning programs, curriculum, tutoring, and other qualified expenses.
The program is administered by the Georgia Education Savings Authority (GESA) and is currently in its second year. Up to 50% of unused funds can be carried forward to the following school year.

Who Is Eligible
To qualify for the Georgia Promise Scholarship, a student must:
- Currently be enrolled (or have been continuously enrolled) in a Georgia public school for at least two consecutive semesters, or be a rising kindergarten student
- Reside in a Georgia public school attendance zone that falls in the bottom 25% for performance, per the Governor's Office of Student Achievement list
- Have a parent who has lived in Georgia for at least one year (active-duty military are exempt)
If applications exceed available slots, priority goes to families with household income under 400% of the federal poverty level and to returning scholarship participants.

The Application Windows: Act Before August
The Georgia Promise Scholarship operates on quarterly application windows. For the 2026-27 school year, the remaining windows are:

- November 1–30, 2026
Initial funding of approved student accounts for 2026-27 will be in early July 2026 for families already in the program. New families accepted through the August window can expect funding on a quarterly basis following approval.

How to Use Your Funds
Once your Promise Scholarship account is approved, purchases are made through the Odyssey Marketplace, the platform GESA uses for families to direct funds to approved providers. Families log into the marketplace, view their account balance, and complete purchases from approved vendors listed there.
